1. Where you are from?

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California! I love my city. We are lucky to have so many cultures here. My family has brought its own diversity into Los Angeles – my father emigrated from Mexico and was lucky enough to meet my magnificent mother here and raise six kids in a beautiful part of town. I’m a proud Chicana and middle child!

2. What you are into… studies, hobbies, special skills etc..?

Hanging out with my big, loud family is very important to me. Despite modeling full-time, I still try to pick up a few shifts at my family’s restaurant. However, the only green I get in exchange for my labor is Chili Verde.

I have studied psychology and sociology because I am very fascinated by how we are shaped by our experiences, particularly the unique immigrant experience in America.

I’m very passionate about good health and living a balanced life. I highly recommend yoga to anyone seeking healing and ongoing calmness.

.3. Favorite clients from the biz?
Some of my favorites clients include Windsor, Unique Vintage and Bee Darlin.

4. Dreams/goals, any thing else of interest (any other dream clients?)?

Travelling for work is always a blessing. Also, working on projects that allow me to show my personality is a privilege I never take for granted. Oh, and to be the face of Estée Lauder 🙂

5. Career highlights?
Being model of the month for Bicoastal Management, of course. Well, second to being signed by Bicoastal.

6. How did you get into modeling or acting?
I began by modeling for Spanish bridal and quinceañera magazines, which then lead to competing in international beauty pageants. Representing Mexico and the US on a world stage was a formative experience. I then moved onto modeling and Spanish television hosting. Bicoastal has allowed me to cross over into the English market and I am really enjoying the new experiences and relationships 🙂

Fashion Gives Back

It’s that time of the year where we know many have recently been thinking about charitable giving for year’s end. It is truly heart-warming to know the people we work with are so generous and charitable.

We got to chat with creative director Claudia Marenco of Human Habit about how she’s helping improve the lives of Guatemalan people and native Mayan women!

BICOASTAL:  We know you are passionate and involved about something near and dear to your heart. Do you have a moment to let us know what it is and how you got involved?

Screen Shot 2018-01-11 at 4.05.01 PM.png

CLAUDIA MARENCO: Yes, I am helping a non-profit organization Multiplica Guatemala that works with local artisans. I am designing bags and sandals.

BICOASTAL: Amazing! Can you tell us more about Multiplica Guatemala?

CM:  Multiplica Guatemala is an ethical brand and a local non-profit organization, with the alliance of INTECAP (Technical Institution of Capacitation and Productivity), seeks to improve the lives of Guatemalan people. This economic and commercial incentive is achieved with the collaboration of native Mayan women; giving them the opportunity and tools to empower them to become entrepreneurial women in business.  They learn how to assess risks and make decisions that benefit them and their families.

We also got to chat with our model Suwana Perry about the charity she is working with! Continue reading to learn more:

BICOASTAL MGMT: We know you are passionate and involved about something near and dear to your heart. Do you have a moment to let us know what it is and how you got involved?

SUWANNA PERRY: Beauty for Freedom (BFF), a 501(c)(3) Non-profit foundation, whose mission is to battle the crisis of human trafficking and empower survivors, raises revenue for survivors in the developing world with a fresh approach of self-worth and empowerment through the arts. We engage the industries of Beauty and Fashion as powerful allies in the fight to end human trafficking through public campaigns, our travel-abroad arts therapy workshops for survivors and events.

BICOASTAL MGMT: How did you get involved?

SUWANNA PERRY: My dear friend Monica Watkins is the co-founder of Beauty for Freedom. We met through modeling years ago and I always admired her passion for creating platforms which encouraged charity, social consciousness and artistic freedom. I attended a BFF event about two years ago and we reconnected. We met for coffee a few weeks later and she asked me if I would like to get involved. It’s truly been a powerful experience.

BICOASTAL MGMT: What makes this issue near and dear to your heart?

SUWANNA PERRY: We all deserve the power of choice. The basic human right to have ownership over your own body. To not be violated or used at someone else’s will or due force. These issues are happening all around the world and possibly in your neighborhood. Education/ legislative change and supporting non-profits with feet on the ground are so important. An estimated 40 million people are in slavery today, we have to keep going until we see change. Here are some more statistics:

Labor Slavery- About 50 percent toil in forced labor slavery in industries where manual labor is needed—such as manufacturing, farming, ranching, logging, mining, fishing, and brick making—and in service industries working as dish washers, janitors, gardeners, and maids.
Sex Slavery- About 12.5 percent are trapped in forced prostitution sex slavery.
Forced Marriage Slavery- About 37.5 percent are trapped in forced marriages.
Child Slavery- About 25 percent of today’s slaves are children.

1. Where you are from?
A small town called Kenora in Northwestern Ontario, Canada known for its lakes and fishing.

2. What you are into… studies, hobbies, special skills etc..?
The hobby I am most passionate about is Scuba diving. In the past year, I dove with hammerhead sharks in Galapagos, whale sharks in Mexico, and black tip sharks in the French Polynesia.  Most of the planet is underwater so I feel a desire to see as much as humanly possible. I also love riding motorcycles, Crossfit, and am even in a pool league.

3. Favorite clients from the biz?
I have worked some amazing clients around the world including designers from Italy, Spain, Germany, and the U.S.  Almost all clients I’ve worked with have been extremely professional and supportive, but a few that really stand out are Diesel, Energie, D&G, G-Star, Crooks & Castles, and Adaptation.

4. Dreams/goals, any thing else of interest (any other dream clients?)?
One of my dreams is to help provide motivation and leadership to our youth in order to enable them become successful. I am currently a mentor in an amazing leadership program called LEAP (, which is held for 1 week every summer at UCLA. The program teaches kids aged 15-25 how to succeed in life through job interview skills, the importance of having mentors in your life, and maximizing your potential. I also strive to be a published author (in the self-help genre), provide a great life for my family, and dive with wild orcas in Norway. As for dream clients I would love to work with some of the athletic brands (Lululemon, Arc’teryx, Nike and Adidas). I wish GoPro would release an underwater clothing line!

5. Career highlights?

My career highlights include walking the runway for Squared, D&G, Diesel, and Moncler in Milan. I’ve also graced a few covers including World Class and Ocean Drive.

6. How did you get into modeling or acting?
I was scouted carrying groceries in a grocery store parking lot in Winnipeg, Canada.  From there I went to see agencies in Toronto, signed with an agency, and 2 weeks later I was on a plane to Milan, Italy.  My first job was for Giorgio Armani at Casa Armani in Milan.  I literally went straight from the Milan airport to Giorgio’s home with all of my luggage. Talk about CULTURE SHOCK.
